Yacht charter base
A marina from which charter companies operate fleets of bareboat or crewed sailing yachts.
A yacht charter base is a marina equipped with the infrastructure to support a fleet of charter boats — service docks, fuel, water, electricity, briefing rooms, provisioning. Greece is the largest charter market in the Mediterranean; the main bases are:
- Alimos Marina (Athens) — the biggest, 20 minutes from ATH airport
- Lavrio Marina — 40 minutes from ATH, closer to the southern Cyclades
- Athens Marina (Flisvos) — superyacht and crewed-yacht focused
- Lefkas Marina (Ionian) — calmer water, popular for first-time charterers
- Gouvia Marina, Corfu — northern Ionian, long-distance circuits possible
- Kos and Lemnos — eastern Aegean alternatives
Standard handover day is Saturday for most operators. Luxi handles the airport-to-marina transfer, including the awkward luggage logistics across busy summer car parks. See our sailing services page.
