Surge pricing
A temporary multiplier applied to ride-hail (Uber, FreeNow) fares when demand is high and driver supply is low.
Surge pricing (also called "dynamic pricing") is an algorithmic price multiplier used by ride-hail platforms. When demand briefly exceeds nearby driver supply — heavy rain, concert end, sudden flight wave at the airport — the base fare is multiplied by 1.5x, 2x, or higher to attract more drivers and ration demand.
Private transfers do not surge. The fixed quote you accept at booking is the price you pay, irrespective of demand conditions at pickup time.
