Glyfada
A southern Athens coastal suburb on the Athenian Riviera, 18 km south of the city centre, popular for shopping and dining.
Glyfada (Γλυφάδα) is the most prominent of the southern Athens coastal suburbs along the so-called Athenian Riviera. 18 km south of central Athens, lined with mid-century apartment blocks behind a strip of restaurants, cocktail bars and boutique shopping. Many Athenians live here for the sea breeze and the easier traffic compared to the centre.
For travellers, Glyfada is a common hotel destination — closer to the airport (15–20 minutes) than central Athens, with the trade-off of being further from the Acropolis and Plaka. The airport flat-fare taxi rate does not apply to Glyfada (it is outside the Athens municipal boundary), so meter pricing or a private transfer makes more sense for this route.
