The Zagorochoria (Ζαγοροχώρια — literally "villages beyond the mountain") are a network of 46 traditional stone-built villages in the Vikos–Aoos national park, in the Pindus mountains of Epirus, north of Ioannina. The region is one of the most beautiful and best-preserved alpine cultural landscapes in Greece, with stone houses, slate roofs, dramatic gorge views and the famous Zagori arched stone bridges that span the mountain streams.

The most-visited villages include Monodendri (at the lip of the Vikos Gorge, with the spectacular Beloi viewpoint), Megalo Papingo and Mikro Papingo (twin villages at the foot of the Astraka peaks, popular climbing base), Vitsa (with its arched bridge), Kipoi (the cluster of arched bridges in the lower Zagori) and Aristi (the central administrative village).

Ioannina Airport (IOA) is the closest entry point — 35–55 km depending on which village you're heading to. Drive time 50 minutes to 1h 15m on twisting mountain roads. Sedan transfer from IOA runs €60–€90, van €80–€120. From Athens it's a 5-hour drive via the Egnatia Odos to Ioannina then 1 hour into Zagori; most travellers fly to Ioannina or Preveza to save time.

Most-booked Luxi transfers in Zagorochoria: IOA airport pickups direct to specific Zagori village guesthouses, Athens → Zagori for the long arrival (typically with an overnight stop at Meteora on the way), and inter-village transfers (because some villages don't have rental-car access).

For onward travel, the most natural pairing is Vikos Gorge hiking (the 12 km Monodendri-to-Papingo trek is one of Europe's great walks), the Aoos river rafting, or onward to Meteora (3 hours east) for a combined Pindus + Meteora northern Greece itinerary.
